CraftBot 1.75mm PLA Filament
PLA plastic is a wonderful material for 3D printing. It is not hazardous to your health. All our filaments are manufactured in the EU.
Perhaps the most commonly used material, Polylactic acid (PLA) is an environmental & user friendly filament and it is derived from organic material such as corn starch. Probably the greatest plus of PLA, and the reason why such a large number of makers prefer it is that you can print safely indoors without a risk of toxic contamination from the fumes. PLA has a slightly lower melting point than ABS and has lower shrinkage which in-turn, creates a better bed adhesion for the foundations of your prints.
Chemically treating PLA to obtain a smooth surface is absolutely possible, but is not recommended for all home hobby users in everyday practice, especially those who have children, pregnant or those with health conditions in the general area, due to the high toxicity of the chemicals used to treat it. The tough thing is that ABS gives off toxic fumes while printing, but get be smoothed with a much safer process, while PLA is absolutely same fume-wise to print with but gives you a hard time if you want to shine it up.
WARNING! AVOID SWAPPING PLA AND ABS BETWEEN PRINTS IN THE SAME HOTEND! MANY CLOGS OCCUR BECAUSE OF THIS MISTAKE!
